Ondreičková Oľga

1935, Bratislava

Oľga Ondreičková worked in a field where extraordinary technological and structural innovation was required. Her first major work was the telecommunication building in Štrbské Pleso, which was built in the 1970s for the upcoming World Ski Championships. Ondreičková proposed a perfectly functional and artistically impressive architecture, a real gateway to the legendary Area of dreams. She decided to use massive volumes of fair‑face concrete and contrasting suspended glass facades, which became a distinctive feature of her following works. When working on her most appreciated projects, the post office and telecommunication building in Bratislava-Petržalka and the post office building in Prague in Pankrác, she enriched her style by another element - the subtle aluminum lamellas. The last mentioned work brought to Ondrejičková the highest award in the form of the Union of Slovak Architects Prize.
